Synopses and Billings

As the name suggests, this form is used to collect the synopsis and billing (in both English and Welsh) for the selected single programme or series episode.

Simply provide the required text and click Save.

Once you have provided all four items, the form can be completed by clicking the Complete button.

Synopsis (300-500 characters)

Synopses should contain brief introduction (if new series) then summary of programme's specific content.

For the summary of the programme's specific content for example:

  • Drama/comedy - the episode's main storylines
  • Current affairs - the main issues focused on & the main people being interviewed
  • Music/Light Ent - the artists/groups performing/appearing
  • Magazine - the items featured along with the names of the main participants

When providing the synopsis for a series episode, the details provided should reflect the content of the individual episode and not the series as a whole, but please include a short line at the beginning for brand new series or a further instalment of a series (i.e. 'Brand new comedy set in a pub' or 'Second series of the murder mystery drama')

This synopsis will be used in various listings, both print and digital.

Billing (approx 95 characters each for Welsh & English, max 190 characters together)

Billings should contain a shorter summary of the synopses. Both Welsh and English billings are combined for our Digital platforms, hence a balance of both is needed.

Here are examples of a bilingual billing that fits within the 95 + 95 wordcount. Don't worry if the billing is not 50/50 in terms of language, e.g. that the Welsh is a bit longer than the English, but please aim for some sort of balance.

Drama drosedd newydd. Mae llofruddiaeth nyrs yn sioc fawr i gymuned drefol fach yn Sir Benfro. New drama. The murder of a nurse sends shockwaves through a small community in Pembrokeshire.

Mae'r criw canolfan ailgylchu nôl am ail gyfres. Tro hwn: ymweliad gan swyddog yr amgylchedd. Cefn Cilgwyn's recycling yard gang return, with a visit from the council's environment officer.
