Password Recovery

Getting Started

To begin the password recovery process, you need to click the Wedi anghofio eich cyfrinair?/Forgot your password? link just about the Logio/Login button.

The first stage of the recovery process is to provide your username using the form shown below.

Simply enter the username you use to login and click the Submit button.

If the provided username is valid (i.e. it exists and can currently login), an email will be sent to the email address registered against your username. The email will contain the code you need to complete the password recovery process. The code is valid for 30 minutes, if the email does not arrive before this you will need to contact S4C for assistance. When the email has been sent, the following page will be displayed.

The Recovery Email

The email contains two links. The first is the button with the code in it. Clicking this will take you directly to the new password form. If for some reason this doesn't work, you can copy the second link (display in blue in the screenshot above), paste this into your web browser and goto the location which should look like this...

Enter your username and the code displayed in the button and then click Submit. If the information provided is correct and valid you will be taken to the new password form as though you had clicked the button in the email.

Your New Password

Your new password should be six characters or longer up to a maximum of thirty, it should include at least one uppercase letter (A-Z), at least one lowercase letter (a-z), at least one digit (0-9) and at least one special character (!£$%^&*()_=+;:#~,<.>/?|-\[]{}) and it should not contain single or double quotes (' and ").

Enter your new password in the fields marked Cyfrinair/Password and Cadarnhau Cyfrinair/Confirm Password and click Submit. If you would like to see your new password you can click the eye icon to the right of the fields. This will reveal the two password fields as plain text, so please take care not to let anyone else see it.

If your password recovery is completed successfully the following page will be displayed.

Problems During Recovery

If an issue occurs during the reset process, error message will be displayed. An example of these messages can be seen in the following screenshot.

The username you provided is not valid as it does not exist in the system database. You can retry, taking care to check the username to ensure it is correct. If this issue persists you should contact S4C for assistance.

Nid yw''r defnyddiwr yn weithredol, ni ellir ailosod cyfrinair/User is not active, password cannot be reset

The username you provided cannot currently login as it not currently active. You should contact S4C for assistance.

Gwall Mewnol - Dim gwybodaeth bellach ar gael/Internal Error - No further information available

An error occurred within the server software. You should retry your request but if the problem persists, you should contact S4C for assistance.

If this issue occurs, you can retry your request but it is likely it will persist, in which case you should contact S4C for assistance.

Darparwyd cyfrinair annilys/An invalid password was provided

The new password you provided is invalid. You should provide a new one that complies with the rules outlined above and try again. If this issue persists, please contact S4C for assistance.

The code you supplied does not match the code attached to your username. You should double check it and try again. Please note that each time you restart the recovery process a new code is issued so you should be sure to check that you are attempting to use the latest code. If this problem pesists, please contact S4C for assistance.

For security reasons, the codes used to verify your account/email expire 30 minutes after they are created. Your code has expired and you should restart the recovery process. If the email containing the code is not arriving in a timely manner, please contact S4C for assistance.

As the system uses email to deliver the verification code used during the password reset process, users must have an email address recorded against their account. If you do not have an email address recorded you will need to speak with the company you work for in the first instance. If they are unable to help, please contact S4C.
